My wife April and I, on a free weekend will grab our beach cruisers and pedal along the coast in Huntington Beach. During the summertime the parking lots are full of weekend warriors and RV enthusiasts. Some of the RV's are as long as a football field and look like a pack of rock stars might be hiding inside of them. But every once in awhile we'll roll up on some dusty Winnebago from the 1970's. These RV enthusiast aren't your average enthusiasts. They resemble sea lions wearing pirate gear. Their skin is tan and leathery and it's hard to tell where their red thongs end and their skin begins. If you can get past the shock of seeing scars on the bodies of the unashamed you will see the crowning achievement of Native American recreational vehicle craftsmanship. I'm not talking about dream catchers on the sides of wild mustangs, I'm talking about the 1973 Winnebago Brave, not to be confused with the Chieftain or Indian editions.
The 1973 Winnebago Brave is the Chuck Norris of recreational vehicles. If you look a Winnebago Brave in the eye, you'll realize that it means business. April and I fell in love at first sight and promised ourselves that we would some day purchase a Brave and restore it to it's glorious perfection.
